OT Safely stopping vehicles trying to run check-points

Shit, that's the job for the army to seek and evaluate, as they are doing now. Maybe a massive inflatable baloon in the barier-lined-path or some other fast-acting barrier? How about a large electronic discharge that will screw up the ignition on non-diesel cars? A could of haylon that would cut the air to the engine.?

We have hundreds of potential inventors here, but most cntributors just want to ridiclue others. If you can't add something positive, skip to the next messager!

Those would have to be quick to disable a speeding car approaching a checkpoint. A TOW missile would probably work better... disables the vehicle and clears the road at the same time.

Ah, looks like team effort here. How about a hinged barrier with an explove charge under it to get that quick action yoiu seek. Speeding car hits barrier and gets front end ruined enough to stop it - some injuries inside - like hitting a wlll, I suuppose. Better that thst ignorant family getting hit with a TOW and us getting bad press. It also shows we are trying to save the lives of innocent, ignorant civilians.

Thanks, Lee.

I hope they have seatbelt laws over there... imagine the press when Dad, Mom, Jr., 12 chickens and a goat go through the windshield.

Awww fercryinoutloud.... Now you have to bring goats into the debate? We already have data from one government agency (FAA) about chickens being shot through windshields.. NHTSA has data on women and kids, also... But goats? Oh, the humanity..... Jeff

a 'friend' once told me of one he had happen to someone he knew in Nam..

new green seargent got sent to his new platoon, and was being briefed by the old Sarg.. little kid-5 year old, came running toward them, and the old sarg said SHOOT THE KID, NOW.. new guy hesitated.. and the old sarg took a machine gun and cut the kid in half.. new guy started hollering about what the old sarg did, but in the midst of the argument, the kid blew up.. he was 'mined'... new guy then shut up..

they fight by FAR different rules over there.. the best way to describe it as we are now the 'English', way back in the war of independence, and they are the then Americans..

We have lost the fight, totally but the guv is too dammed stupid to admit that

Sometimes I am not clear. When I said they skipped out on Vietnam, I was not talking about our country skipping out, I was talking about Bush, Cheney and the other chicken hawks who did not serve there and in many cases, such as Cheney, did not serve anywhere. I made no comment about who got us in there but I know who it was originally. You're rignt, I don't "know" who you voted for in 2000, but judging from your comments over the years I find it highly unlikely that you voted for Gore, and a vote for anyone else helped put Bush in office. I take responsibility for helping put Nixon in power in 68. Thanfully, I learned from that mistake. I hope others will learn from theirs.

I wouldn't mind a slightly smaller check if it would keep companies in line and honest. I don't deny that we have lost some personal rights and liberties, I just don't see any tie in to commies.

Willing to throw Clinton in with Bush and Chaney, just to be fair about who served? (as if that was a requirement, which it is not). Your comment on my voting is interesting. Must be tough to paint trim with only one color, and a brush that big. Communism and socialism don't need a face, just a climate. The Chinese are patient, and like the Japanese, the former Soviet Union, and to some extent, even the Muslim world... They adapt their strategy to win, and if that battle is not on a battlefield, so be it. They will destroy their enemy in the boardroom, the banking system, the school system, the political arena, the prison system....wherever they can make headway. I see plenty of ties to the 'commies' (your word). They (and others) see the real weakness in our country. That weakness is the people WE have elected to office. They (the politicians) have set the system up for their own profit, and in many cases have placed that profit above all else. They (the politicians) have divided and dumbed down the population to make it easier to do their bidding without interference. They (the politicians) have also manipulated the media to set a tone so few will care. They (the politicians) have also opened the doors to allow this country to be flooded, so as to slowly dilute the voting influence their way. And they (the politicians) don't have to be a member of a particular party, because both parties have blurred the lines so bad, few can tell. But they (the politicians) sure can play one side off against another... They have you hooked with a blue Rapala ... And whoever loses an election suddenly looks at the independents (another word for those pissed off at both sides) as the blame for the loss. Enough of that, though... Think the former Soviet system is 'dead'? Look at the recent sophisticated poisonings... Plutonium in the sushi... Now that's easy to pull off.. Wonder if Iran is cooking today? I too hope that people learn from their mistakes. One of the biggest mistakes is to blame only one side for screwing things up. And there is plenty of screwing up going on. Jeff

It doesn't seem to matter how much we delve into the machinations of politicians, banks or the military-industrial complex; it doesn't matter whether Dems or Republicans are in the White House; it doesn't matter how much we rail against biased media. If you protest the face of government, banks or media, you are branded a "whacko" or a "conspiracy theorist". If you challenge the "accepted" version of global warming the environmentalists, Gore, Suzuki and others would have you believe (Kyoto), you must be on the payroll of big business. Those in control want you to believe what they are telling you and as you have pointed out, they "manipulate" the masses to achieve it.

Jeff, I fear they are winning the battle on a global scale and our rants, however well-founded, accomplish nothing apparently. I agree with your assessment that there is "plenty of screwing going on" no matter what political stripe wields the power. Just what is to be done about it (or can be done about it) is the question that keeps me awake at night...

Couple of points here Lee. John is intelligent, rational, and calm. You are none of these. Sports my ass....it's pretty obvious that you got beat up a lot in school although it's equally obvious that you didn't spend much time there.

This "Old Eastern Republican" remembers the days when, as far as legislation, to/for our elected Representatives, the Nation came first, their party next and religion, sexual preference, race, religion and so on were insignificant details.

Will this state ever return?

Hi Jeff...

according to another 2 lists I am on, there are 2 big countries in the world facing problems right now.. India.. has 18% of the population, and 4% of the drinkable water in the world.. methinks personally its going to be a self limiting problem shortly.. Ditto China.. water is in VERY short supply.. at lest CLEAN drinkable water.. and not to leave western countries out, Australia might be having to give up a couple of towns as well in next couple of years..due to no drinkable water..

So they can have ALL the patience in the world, and earth is gonna win..

(PS, take a look at the supposed 10,000 tons of DU shells shot in Middle East-see where the dust from that is blowing...LOLOL)
