Man, it hurts not to be in South Bend..... In penance, I went out and worked on my Stude today..... Only part of me that was the least bit happy was my wallet Jeff

Cheer up Jeff, take the truck out for a nice long cruise...I'm not there either but I worked on three Studes yesterday and today (one my own) and felt better. BTW, since my new radiator is now in place and if I cry loud and long and toss in some begging, would you maybe do a timing cover so I can hang my AC? Studebaker George

We went to a very "fancy" car show today by invite only. The Hawk won best

50's last year so we were not allowed to compete. A very wealthy car collector hired about 20 drivers to bring some of his collection to the show. As we were sitting there, a very nice Speedster arrives, it had one of the best paint jobs I have ever seen. His "driver" placed the normal sign in the window. Then more of his cas showed up, Chrysler 300 Ragtop, Chevey Impala ragtop, Chrysler woody side ragtop, Pontiac convert. 1958. and nauseum. This guy bought 100 1950's cars and trucks and had a very prestigious restoration facility in Ct. restore them. Since the Speedster was parked next to mine I read the window sign

Guys Name Car: Studebaker Year: 1954 Model Speedster

I grabbed one of the guys drivers and said this is a 55 not a 54, guy said I was wrong its a 54. About an hour later Daddy Big Bucks shows up and I tell him his car is a 55, nope its a 54. So I said, oh you bought a 54 and made it look like a 55 Speedster? Finally somebody comes over and explains to him its a 55. Then I discover there is no weather stripping on front door....... oh Mr. Big Bucks could you step over here. I went over the car with him, then up on the hill there was some loud talkin after I explained the doors have to come off he freaked. Out of 80 cars he had 18 on display. One of guys told me they wanted to bring some of the better cars, a 59 Lincoln convert, but it would not start, a 300H ragtop w Hemi, it would not start, a Ford with a retractible top, it would not start.

Its nice to have money

On the other hand a 1934 Auburn, which has won the Louis Vuitton award was behind me. I walked over and talked with the owner and he hands me the keys, " if anyone wants to hear the engine, turn it on for them" if they want to see the engine watch me, now you do it. I won't be here today I willl see you later" At 3:45 he comes back I give him the keys, and says Thanks.

What a day

Amazing, isn't it.... Those that can, do........ Confidence is an intrinsic thing.... Those that have it,,,have it, and don't need to show it.... or tell you about it... But, on the other hand.... Going to River Street during concourse judging is tempting fate ....(inside joke) Jeff (I would have been on River Street ) Rice
