2000 Forester will not start, but turns over (has gas)

2000 Subaru Forester. Cars turns over just fine, but never starts. Has gas.

Electrical:

These work: Power mirrors, heated seats, radio...

These do NOT work: Power windows, dash lights, heater fan, A/C

Sounds like a fuse has gone. But checking in the fuse box under the hood, and the fuse box under the dash (to the right of the steering wheel) shows that all fuses are okay.

Is there any relays that feed all the above items that can be checked? If so, can you say "where" they are, and how I can reach them to check.

I had my mechanic (non-Subaru) looking and calling Subaru and they would not tell him where the relay might be located.

Any help is appreciated. Dave

From the way it sounds the primary ignition circuit is not getting power but the accessory circuit is. Depending how much digging you want to do you can put a Volt Meter on the Yellow and Green/Orange (Green w/ orange stripe) wire coming out of your ignition harness and see if they are getting voltage when you turn the key forward to the on position. If you are not getting voltage it is an electrical problem (Fuse, broken wire, etc...) If you are getting voltage however there is a good chance that the ignition system (Coil, Ignition Relay, etc..) may be having a problem.

If it is the ignition system I would check your owners manual and see if they list where the ignition relays are located (normally under the hood in the fuse box) and try putting in a different one.

Maybe someone else here will have a bit more info for you, I won't be able to respond again until next week so I won't be able to do much follow-up for ya.

Hi, Is the ignition key assembly good? Fusible link? Look into owners manual. Relay(s). Tony Tony

We bought the vehicle used, so of course it did not come with a manual.

It seems almost impossible to get a subaru manual after the fact.

Can a PDF or something be downloaded? Does anyone know where I can find a manual for a 2000 Subaru Forester?

Thanks, Dave

Hi, Do you have fuel delivery? Do you have spark? Owners manual won't help much, shop manual may. Tony
