2003 wrx 5sp-long term problems?

Hi, I have an 03 wrx wagon, approx 22k miles on it. I recently got a mailing from SOA regarding extending my warranty. It seems like a decent deal, I am wondering more about long term problems that people have with these cars. One of the reasons I bought the car is becuase Soob has a good rep wrt emgines/drive trains etc...

Anyway, just wondering if Soobi owners have anything to say regarding long term reliability, possible repairs I should be expecting etc...

thanks in advance....

Sorry, but the WRX is a different kettle of fish. Yes, it is mechanically reliable, but it is also a rocket ship which will get through consumables like tyres, brakes and clutch at a much higher rate than the sort of cars you are talking about. A good mileage for a Rex clutch is 65,000. On the car mentioned, you should certainly be checking whether it has had new pads all round and be budgeting for new front discs before too long. It should also be towards the end of ithe life of its first set of tyres. Turbos, I'm glad to say, seem to be good for well over 100,000 miles.

at approx how many miles do you estimate that new pads are needed?

How about front discs?

also, do you know (or anyone else who feels like jumping in) when/if the timing belt needs to be replaced?

thanks!

These depend entirely on how the car has been driven. Check the car's history. The bills should show you what work has been done. If it has newish tyres, pads and discs, then you have no problem for a while.

Depends on the model year. Check the handbook which comes with the car.
