2005 Subaru Forester and CT winter wipers

I checked for winter wipers at CT and they recommend 22" driver, 19" passenger (or 18" for the winter Teflon blade that doesn't have 19") and didn't specify rear, though they said the rear was 15" up to 2003. I have a couple of questions, hope the experts can help.

  1. Are the CT winter blades any better or worse than what Subaru sells? Much difference in price?

  1. Are the Teflon winter blades significantly better than the regular winter blades?

  2. I can get the 22" blade in either Teflon or regular, but the Teflon doesn't come in 19". If your answer to #2 was "yes", is it better to put a 19" regular or an 18" Teflon blade on the passenger side?

  1. How important is a winter blade on the rear?

Thanks! =aw

could you cut down a longer blade and put it in the metal strip from the shorter blade or something?

I've done that before with some leftover Bosch refills for a previous car. I don't necessarily recommend Bosch, but it's fairly easy to trim most narrow refills.

Of course you need to be careful to avoid cutting yourself on the metal pieces.

Thanks for the idea, that would mean buying a 19" non-teflon and a 20" teflon, then cutting down the 20" to 19"? I'm not sure the teflon is that much better ($3-$4 is the difference in price for same-size).
