97 Outback 2.5 Water pump? Aus

My trusty 97 dumps all its coolant. After only a few minutes driving, steam blowing out everywhere, and overheating yet radiator is cool.

Appears to be leaking from under the fromt of the engine. Is the water pump located unside the plastic timing belt cover? Of so, it appeasr to be quite inaccessible without remoing teh engine. Anyone had any experiences?

Could this be something other than the pump?

If it's like a '99 you don't have to pull the engine. You do have to pull the fans, radiator, fan belts, crank pulley, timing belt covers and timing belt.

About an hour's job if you've done it before and you can get the crank pulley bolt off without a lot of pain. Don't do it unless you are thoroughly familiar with the precautions you need to take when you remove and replace the timing belt.

How many miles on your timing belt? Usually, the water pump goes for a free ride on the timing belt labor, but it could just as easily go the other way.
