A/C issues . . . any help?

1993 Subaru Impreza . . . This is a problem that originally happened last summer, which eventually led to the a/c compressor siezing up. Compressor was replaced and system re-charged 3 weeks ago. When the engine warms up AND it is above 80 or so outside, the compressor will sometimes act like it is siezed up - it will only engage for 1/2 second or so before releasing, then trying again in another 5 seconds or so, but not getting the air cold. The engine stutters/shakes a little with each attempt. This begins to happen generally when the car is coasting or cruising along at high speeds, and it never happens until after the engine has warmed up after 5 or 10 minutes. Outside temps in the low 70?s and it works just fine. Sometimes after switching the a/c off for a few minutes it will function normally again for a while. Any ideas on what the culprit is?? New compressor, recent re-charge.
