After 600 miles new Outback pulls to the right

If I let go a wheel at 65mpg, car would right away drift to the right lane. The effect much less pronounced at 35 mph. This is a new car with only 600 miles on it. Should I take it to the dealer immediately or wait till first oil change (or it will chew up tires)? Is it a wheel alignment problem?

Tire pressure was checked thanks

Same thing on 2004 Outback, except drift was to the left. Dealer set tire pressure from 32 to 35 and it help a lot but I'll have it checked again a the 3000 mark.

Thanks, John

Yes I did. I checked on multiple roads, in multiple lanes. Not the road camber for sure. I am not sure how equal tire pressure in all tires can affect a drift though. thanks

Check the tire pressure and test-drive again. It can make a difference. With the AWD, you should get into the habbit of eyeballing the tires every fillup and checking the pressure every month or so.

If it still pulls, it's broke. Take it to the dealer. BTW, my '99 Outback is the *only* vehicle that I've ever owned that didn't need periodic alignment. It's got 101k miles on it, has never been aligned and drives straight as an arrow with no tire wear issues. Make them fix yours so it's as good as mine.

I've got a 99 SUS Ltd that has never once been aligned either. Just crossed the

90K mark and got just over 60K on my first set of tires. Never had a wearing problem and I have the tire rotated regularly. I also check the pressure every Monday nite since I travel for work Tuesday and Wednesday so I'm a bit neurotic about it. At any rate, during big check ups, I always remind my dealer NOT to allign them since it drives perfectly straight, even on the bumpy roads of Northeast PA and Route 81.

I actually had tire pressure checked last Monday, but I am heading tomorrow morning to the dealer for the alignment. I will keep my fingers crossed and will you know!

My 2000 Forester was showing some excessive weird tire wear at ~ 6,000 miles. Dealer did a free realignment AND supplied me with a before and after computer print-out. Now at 76,000 miles it still runs straight and true. Eddie

Check pressures cold - weekly is good. 35 psi seems to work well. Sounds like alignment is a good first choice.
