Bleeding the heater Core

What is the best and most sucessful way to bleed the coolant from the heater core in my 1995 Subaru Legacy 2.0l wagon 4x4. I have air bubbling around in it and I want to make sure that it's not an air lock before I start considering what else the bubbling noise could be from. A friend suggested that it could be air coming in from the water pump seal and a kind person on this forum suggested that it could be a head gasket blown and exhaust gases bubbling in through the system. This is why I want to be sure it's not coming from the heater core. Thanks Andrew
