Comparing Warranty Quotes

I've been shopping around for a Subaru Gold Plus Extended Warranty for

7 years/100,000 miles, $0 deductible. From my recollection, here's what I've found (numbers may be slightly off but approximately correct):

Subaru MSRP: $2,495 Where I bought it (upstate New York): $1,720 Local dealership (near Philadelphia): $1,560 Out of state (Massachusetts): $1,480

So obviously the dealerships can discount a lot from MSRP. But even then there are some discrepancies. Not to mention state sales tax is added too.

Disregarding whether or not extended warranties are useful, any suggestions on where/how I can get a better price? Thanks!

I'm guessing that Massachusetts quote is from Curry subaru in Chicopee? If so, I doubt you'll find a better price if your shopping experience mirrors mine when I got my warranty (the same one you're shopping for).

And... not to worry, my local dealer honors it without a bat of an eye.

IF you use Geico for your insurance they have (or at least offered in the past) an interesting extended warranty. I don't recall details - but it had no TIME limitation, just mileage. Works well if you put miles on slowly. just fyi Carl
