Floor and Cargo MAts for Forester

Just got a new for me (used) Forester. It's going to be mainly a fishing/camping vehicle. It has light tan carpet and cargo bed that isn't going to take the wet, muddy boots/waders etc that are going to be on my body as well as stowed in the back.

Any recommendations for floor and cargo mats? (the Husky liner mats appear the best to me but I haven't used them)

Any other suggestions for dealing with wet and dirty stuff?

My wife's '99 Forester L came with a rubber tray/mat that is fitted to the space behind the seats. You might seek one at a junkyard before going to the dealer .

As for floor mats, your best bet would probably be to go to an auto supply place and see what they have.

For the floor mats, I got the Outback version of these rubber mats:

I've only had them a little while, but I like them. Seem pretty sturdy and have deep, wide channels that collect stuff well and allow for fairly easy cleaning.

When I bought our 2006 Forester in April, I bought the Subaru vinyl cargo tray/mat for the back area, and the very deeply grooved mats for the passenger areas. All Subaru parts. The cargo unit is great. To my surprise and disappointment, I found that the driver's floor mat developed cracks in the base of the deep grooves after just 6 months at 6000 miles! Took them back to the dealer, who replaced them free. I think they are a rubber, rather than vinyl compound, and upon examination, find that the material thickness is lacking. I don't expect the replacement mats to wear any better, and next time I will buy something aftermarket.

The optional Subaru mats aren't bad, you can also check out

the oem cargo mat is fantastic, I use it under my dog's blankets to collect muck and water after she's been out having fun...as for the floor mats, don't get the Subaru ones, I'm on my second set after the same cracking problem noted above. The issue is that there is nothing under the ridges for support, so if your heel rests on a ridge when you drive, like mine does, you will wear right through the rubber...go with Husky, that's what I had in my Tacoma, lasted forever...

Just what I ordered. The factory cargo and the Husky liners for the front seat.

Thanks to everyone.
