I have a 1992 Legacy, 4WD with a 2.2 engine. In the past couple of days, which have gotten rather cold, the car will grind and sputter and perhaps take 10 minutes of effort before it will start. The battery is strong and a mechanic has checked the coolant sensor, plugs, injectors and fuel flow and all seem to be okay. He installed a new "cold pack?" but that did nothing to fix the problem. He says the plugs indicate a lean fuel mixture but not excessively so but he cannot figure the problem.
When, and if the car does finally start, it seems to run fine once it has warmed up.
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
