My wife has a 03 Forester. Recently the airbag light has been staying on while driving. When the light initially appeared I called Subaru and set up a time to have them look at it. They couldn't get me in till 3 days later. Well as fate has it, as we were driving to the dealer, the light went out. They check the car out anyway, but couldn't find the source of the problem. They said the onboard computer does not store airbag error codes if the light goes out. (plus, the need to capture the code to know what to fix).
Anyway, 4 days later, the light appeared again. So, I called the dealer and set up another appointment. Once again, I had to set up an appointment for Monday. Well, the weekend prior, the light went out again.
Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?
Also, I'm thinking about buying a OBD-II code reader so I can catch the error when it happens. Does anyone have any experience with these $50 units?
Here is one I'm thinking about buying..
