Must be a USA only thing. I'm in Canada.
You don't get it delivered to you home?
It is actually petty interesting. I've gotten them automagically ever since I bought my 01 new.

I was getting the magazine delivered free when I made the BIG MISTAKE of buying a 2002 Subaru Forester. That car turned out to be the biggest piece of crap I ever owned! A big bulbous gas drinking boat that rode like a 20 year old semi-trailer and was made with the cheapest plastic and pleather (plastic vinyl imitation leather) that I ever encountered. The Subaru Dealer service was a complete nightmare, they having put a quart under/short oil at the first scheduled maintenance and didn't even bother to check the tires for proper inflation and grease spots rubbed into the floor mats. Then there's Drive magazine.
100% Subaru sales propaganda to keep suckers coming back to buy their CRAP CARS.I traded the OBW in at 6800 miles for a General Motors Cadillac STS which offers a FAR SUPERIOUR ride and is built like a tank compared to that piece of shit Subaru it replaced.
I still get Drive Magazine, but I now use it to start the fire in the wood stove with. A pity that I could not do the same with parts of the cheap upholstry in the Subaru I traded it...that would have been so satisfying...almost as much as the thought of tossing a f-n clay brick thru that Subaru Dealership's plate glass window which is also an appealing notion!
so - was it a Forester or an OBW?

Hey GOOF! What an idiot troll. Wonder why you still troll the Subaru group.
Silly troll, Cadillacs are for kids!

You must be trolling. A Caddy, at twice the price should ride better; but it doesn't.
So, tell us how you really feel ; - ) OBW to a Cadillac! Now that's a change! A new STS lists for over $50,000 US dollars. In that price range I'd be more likely to buy a new Z06 Corvette.
SilverFXT "Hey you just got smoked by an SUV!"
It was an 02 Outback Wagon (OBW) with the L.L. Bean Edition package. If you want to see what it was, you can see one that is exactly like the one I traded at the URL below....
I will NEVER buy another Subaru and I STRONGLY DISCOURAGE anyone from purchasing any of their products. They are overpriced and overhyped junk with 4 wheels. (did you see that new SUV their hyping of late? What an UGLY PIECE OF CRAP. Looks like Subaru has cornered the market on the latest incarnation of the infamous 1959 Edsel for 2005 - Subaru and Ford should really get together....they both design and build overpriced crap cars that ain't worth recycling as their metal and plastic should never be re-used to make another car anyplace....unless they ship the junkers to the former Soviet Union of course....grin)
My new (well slightly new) Cadillac may not out run a WRX Matt, but come back in 10 Years and let's compare repair and service notes between your Subie and my Caddy. My guess is you will have spent 2 to 3 times what I will have on routine and required maintenance. (especially if you take your Subaru to one of their "Authorized Dealer Service Centers". My experience with the one in Pennsylvania was a complete nightmare, it was run by bonobo chimpanzees who didn't know an oil filler cap from a freeze plug and the quality of their "Subaru Authorized Service" workmanship showed it plain as day. I dumped the car (02 Outback L.L. Bean Edition H6) rather than put up with what I saw was their utterly incompetent service performed by their alleged "Factory Certified Technicians". This plus the many defects that started to show up over time in the first 6 Months of owenership told me deep within to DUMP this LEMON as fast as I could. Oh...did I mention that several calls to the Subaru Corporate/Customer HQ in NJ produced no help whatsoever..? Their attitude, to put it as simple as possible was "You f--king own it and you work things out with our Dealer".
Never Never again Mark. Subaru is the WORST car company I have ever had to deal with. They were even worse than Ford....which is pretty damm bad in anyone's book by any measure.
If you own a Subaru, I wish you luck...you will need it if you ever need to ask their Dealer or Corporate Network for help.
Funny that GM is in partnership with Subaru and that the WRX was used to build the Saaburu. Oh wait! The Saabaru was build by Subaru.
I drove GM cars for years before moving over to Subaru. To date (two years) I have had ZERO problems with the car with some 67,000KM on it. By this time, I had mondo problems with all of my GM cars that were comparably priced. So, I would guess that any number of Subaru owners would take your bet. Your twice-the-price Caddy should be better than the Subarus, but I'll bet it won't be. At the end of the day, yours will wear out sooner (read fewer miles) and you will have spent much more to keep it running.
You sound an awful lot like that troll Fafoofnik
Your OP was confusing as you begin saying you had a Forester. Also, did you not sit in the seats before you bought it? Most of the problems you outline are not shared by other owners. ANY individual vehicle can have problems that the average vehicle will never exhibit. I'm sure somewhere there are caddy owners with plenty of horror stories.

Yours is called "Six Star Review, The Magazine for Canadian Subaru Owners". See
Sounds like maybe you did get a lemon. I've had plenty of lemons but none were Subarus. My STi worked absolutely flawlessly. And the old right-hand drive Legacy my wife used on the mail route for 168,000 miles worked fine. And she beat the crap out of it. We did nothing special to either car other than the ocassional oil change. Our new Forester XT doesn't exhibit any of the negative characteristics you mention. The seats heat up almost instantly, Sound system is pretty dag gone nice. I don't know how the seats could be more comfortable. We average about 24 mpg. That's not great but for 235 ft/lbs of torque and full time AWD it's not awful. For an small SUV that's actually pretty decent. My STi averaged about 24 mpg and it had 300 hp. Most folks I talk too would only get about 16-18 mpg. Tells you a little bit about how I drive, doesn't it? I have never had any luck with any dealership, GM, Honda, Subaru, Ford, or Fiat. I've owned them all. And I wouldn't trust any service department to check the air in my tires! No one cares as much about your car as much as you do. I don't care what they say! The next Chevy that I will buy will be a Corvette. I won't think about a Cadillac until I'm ready for Depends and Viagra.
SilverFXT "Hey you just got smoked by an SUV!"
Off troll subject back on original thread. There is a true magazine being make for Subaru cars. I haven't seen it, just an ad for it. Topics I think more relate to modding and racing? If you really want to find it go to
There is an online version at

Well, if you're too dim to see the difference between an OBW and a Forester, no wonder you had problems.
With that display of intellect, i can see why a Cadillac is the right car for you.
When was the last time you looked at a Cadillac Escalade? Or, for that matter, anyting in the current Caddy line? All boxy and wedgy, kind of like what you'd get if you gave a 5-year-old a block of clay and said, "Make me a car".
I recently bought a new 2004 Forester and have decided I also would not buy another one.
