I have a Thule Evolution 16 cu. ft. box on my 1998 Forester. Mounts to factory rails. You may have to move the rails a bit to accomodate the mounting system, and clear the tailgate, but once this is done it is a good fit.

My fuel mileage has decreased by about 1 mpg. Not much of a price to pay for the added space. No wind noise or rattles, and it has a quick mount system that is great. The EMS salesman and I installed it in front of his store in less than 10 minutes.

Just a suggestion... buy a hockey stick bag if you don't want to screw up your interior, rather than the roof box. The roof box is inefficient, you'll get up to 5mpg less, etc.

Just a thought. It's what I do.

Wow, another roffian that drives a Subie. FWIW, the new Thule Evolution boxes are quite aerodynamic, and mine only costs me 1 mpg tops. I can see where some of the older models, and some of the cheap stuff like the Sears boxes would cause a lot of drag, and likely some wind noise as well, but I am very pleased with the new Thule.
