That sounds like data that would most likely be coming out over the cell network. Another possibility is the GM OnStar system might be sending it, as Subarus had access to the OnStar system at one time (not sure if they still do?). Really the best way to find out is when you receive your monthly data bill from place. ;)

How could it be coming from a Wi-Fi connection? There aren't Wi-Fi towers all along the highways.
Is this something you already bought? If not, you can get an after- market nav system without having to pay for a moonroof on the Outback.

I thought 25-30 years ago, there was a receiver for stocks, weather, etc. Thought it was satellite.
Anyway..
