Dont get it through carcostcanada, my friend used it and it sux. My friend ended up getting better deal on his own than with carcostcanada. He bought a L special edition wagon with standard transmission + front hood deflector for $29500 cdn(everything inclusive). Note, since we live in alberta we've only paid 7% tax. I dont think it's worth the money to go with CarCostCanada because half of the dealers dont even deal with them and the other half just give you msrp -$700.
I do not mean to brag, but the deal I just closed with a
2004 Forester last week was much better than that.
I'd been talking to the salesman since the 30 August, told him I'd be buying. He started at Invoice plus 3%. I checked around and found several dealers that would go Invoice plus 2%, so when the salesman called on the last days of September, he wanted to deal.
I didn't because he didn't have the color combination I wanted, asked him to see if he could find it. I called him the last days of October and told him I was in "BUY" mode and asked for his best price. HE talked Invoice, minus some dollars and started the "I'll ask my new car sales mgr" game.
I just told him to fax his best deal to me, along with a copy of the Mfgr Invoice, and I'd decide then.
He came in at Invoice less $500.00 US.
I figured he was getting close to the bottom of his bag of tricks so I took the deal. Plus he cried that they were losing money, etc. After the car was delivered, I asked him how much they really made and he told me that was a close to the profit line he'd ever seen it, but it WAS the end of the month and they had not yet made their monthly goal.
A serious suggestion:
Apparently that is a very good time to buy a new car!
