1981 Fiat Exhaust Manifold Mounting bolts

I am restoring a 1981 Fiat Spider. I went to replace the exhaust manifold gasket and one of the mounting bolts is broken off. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I've had good luck with a mig welder and a torch.

The following methods both take a little skill and practice. I wouldn't try these on your pride and joy unless you feel real comfortable with it, so maybe this should be left to the experienced.

First, is the bolt flush with the mating surface? You might be able to drill out the center of the bolt with a left handed drill bit to just bring the bolt back out. These drill bits are a little more expensive than regular ones, but they can be a life saver. They are available at auto part shores. Since this is on an exhaust manifold that is exposed to a lot of heat, this you might try to drill out the center of the bolt and use an EZ-out. Also available at part stores, you simply put it in the drilled hole and try to turn it out. One of the last things to try is if the sheared bolt is flush with the mating surface, weld a flat washer to the sheared off bolt and then weld a nut to the washer. Usually after the heat has migrated through the bolt you can turn the bolt out with a wrench or socket. Some people also swear by candle wax is sucked into the threads with heat. I haven't ever tried that one. Forgot to mention to use a good penetrating oil (such as P'Blaster) before hand, but you probably already know that. If all else fails, take it to a machine shop and let them do it.
