1996 Saturn w/AudioVox Alarm Problem

I have a 1996 Saturn SL1 that has a dealer installed AudioVox alarm. Everything was working fine until my battery died. I replaced the battery and the alarm lite came on. I put the alarm into active instead of valet mode according to instructions I found on the web and that worked fine (the red lite went off). However, the alarm and remote keypad don't work now. The buttons to enable/disable the alarm which also lock/unlock the car don't do anything when pressed. I called the local Firestone which did the battery replacement and they said they didn't disconnect the alarm (the lite still works so I am inclined to believe them) and that it probably needs to be reset since the battery swap removed power from the alarm. So, the question is, how do I reset the alarm to get it working again? Do I have to go to the dealer or can I do it myself? The alarm has a toggle switch for valet/active mode and is currently set to active mode. There is also a push-button switch which I think is what needs to be used but I don't have any manuals for the alarm and don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
