2 Mitsuba fan belts became longer ( too loose ) after 1mth's use,

& incredibly squeeked louder & louder til deafening. I had to crank engine 5&8x to get its steering pump's wheel to stop where I could fit a 12mm socket through this wheel's 2 holes, onto 2 of the 3 bolts ( too tight for my short open-end spanner ) which lock this pump in place. 1 Bando brand fan belt fitted @ the same time as these 2 Mitsuba belts ( on my aircon compressor ) did not become longer. Better use e.g. Bando belts. 1 article says nitrile belts last longer than chloroprene belts. http://hostingprod.com/@aa1car.com/library/timingbelts_903.htm

It's hard to understand most of your post. However, it is very unlikely the belts stretched much. Either your pulleys are very worn or you did not have the belt adjusted properly to begin with.

On some applications using off-branded belts (like some AZ used to carry) , we were never able--even from the start--to get them to tighten enough to eliminate slipping/squealing. Case in point: a 7-year-old de Ville diesel whose ac belt absolutely would not run quietly until we switched it with a Gates. The generic acted almost as a rubber band, and even appeared to the naked eye to be improperly flexible. s

The application of a Bando belt on your air compressor does not mean anything about the apparent stretching of a Mitsuba belt on your car.

Mind you, I am not saying anything about the quality or applicability of either, just that the applications are considerably different.

If you continue to have problems with your car, you need to check pulley alingment, pulley condition including any idler pulleys and their bearings, all mounting bolts and their tightness, etc.

I had literal hell with a Pontiac Fiero once, after several recalls from the factory. I found the stealership mechanics had not replaced the bracket in the correct sequence, had left hidden bolts too loose, and the belts wouldn't stay tight. As soon as they start slipping and glaze over, they may never stay tight again. Each time the belt started slipping, it seem to take the wonderful GM alternator with it.

Once it was fixed properly, no more trouble.

2 other Bando belts ( fitted on my honda F20A in 11-05 ) too did not stretch longer or make noise. 1 Mitsuba belt has continued to stretch ( loosen ) a bit since I tightened it 6 days ago : already been tightened from steering pump's bracket's mid point to ¾ of maximum. No ASTM / JIS / BSI std on belts ?
