2003 Chevrolet Suburban and or 25' Travel Trailer problem ?

My Suburban (new to me - also travel trailer is new) has air adjust shocks (ADJUSTS BY THEMSELF WITH THE LOAD IN THE CAR and Trailer)THAT KEEPS THE CAR RIDEING LEVEL WHEN PULLING MY TRAVEL TRAILER. My problem is - on a trip a couple of weeks ago - I could not drive over

50 mph on the N.Y.S. Thruway BECAUSE the car and trailer would swerve every time a car or truck passed me,was ok when nobody was passing. Thought it was improper loading in the car or trailer - on the way home we tried to not put any load in back of suburban - put load in trailer(over axle's)to see if this would make a difference, also trailer was a lot lighter - emptied Fresh water tank, gray water tank and black water tank also had a lot of big logs that we burned camping. I have been pulling a travel trailer since 1969 and NEVER had any problem that could not be adjusted by the torsion bars on the trailer. HELP should I be looking for a problem with my trailer OR with my car?? What could be WRONG ??

They have a lot of good info. Your problem is probably down to an over-load of the trailer hitch weight, bad rear shocks, improper weight distribution, bad front shocks, lack of sway control hitch, low tire pressures, wrong type of trailer tires, wrong type of tow vehicle tires, or a combination of the above :)

I've had all of the above, except for the whole wrong tire thing - I always had the right tires for the job. I highly recommend an active sway control like the Reese Dual Cam, although there are better and far more expensive options available. I don't like any friction type sway controls.

One thing - you have to add the weight of the trailer tongue to the load capacity of the suburban - if you have an 8,000 pound trailer with 800 -

1000 pound of tongue weight, you are really close to the capacity of the truck if you have four people in it too - so you can't load down the truck or it will be way too much for it to carry.
