89 subaru 4 door sedan

Car starts but shakes an jumps, like out of time.won't rev up, just Boggs down.fuel filtergood and put in New cap & Roter.didn't help.

So... is the timing good or has the belt slipped or distributor failed? The timing light will tell you for sure.

Is the fuel pressure at the rail good? If it's not, you won't get much power out.

Don't guess, measure.

Steve's compression suggestion is not a bad one either; a gasket blown out between two cylinders on one side can cause all sort of ugliness without necessarily making a mess of the oil. A compression test will show it up very quickly.

You might have broken the passenger side timing belt. If you have, you're running on 2 cylinders.
