95 suburban, starts sometimes

Hi everyone, i have a 95 chevy suburban with 110k miles. recently sometimes when i attempt to start it, it will just make a clicking sound at the starter. sometimes if i wait a few minutes it will start normally. it doesnt sound like it is the battery because the cranking is strong when it does start. any idea on what it may be? Thank you

your starter motor is going bad. replace toot sweet. like, this week. you can get a rebuilt starter from a junkyard for 50$ and a garage will put it in for 60-80$. or you can do it yourself; it's not difficult.

can get a rebuilt

you can do it yourself;

Plus... if you can not locate one immediately, and you try to start it up and you get that clicking sound.... make sure you carry a hammer around with you until you find one.... when you hear the clicking sound.. gently tap on the starter with the hammer..... then try to start it up again... what you have is a dead spot in your starter.....tapping it gently will often help....but its not a permanent fix....

Couldn't this be a poor connection? Clean and tighten cables perhaps?

I've seen this problem happen in a couple of Dodge vans. What you are hearing is the selenoid being energized, but part of the starter motor is worn out and will not catch.
