Air Horns.

I have two old 18 wheeler truck style air horns, I bought them at a junk yard a bunch of years ago.One of them is really two horns/dual horns, mounted together.I have a small five gallon air tank too.I was thinking I might fix up my van, maybe use it at my front door once in a while. Fun! cuhulin

My Fiats used to have groovy European air horns. American style horns suck lemons but I guess not having to have an air compressor is a big advantage. That's the breaks.

Consider the Fiamm Freeway Blaster Horn #3830

Fiamm makes some even louder 2-note ones.

I have some old junk yard 1950's era Oldsmobile Rocket hood ornaments too.If I put one on my van, it would probally get ripped off in a parking lot, if you know what I mean.

I used to have an old shed in my back yard.Once in a while I would hook up one of my air horns to my aircompressor. There was a guy who used to live in a big old house up the street from me.The first time I hooked up my air horn, he came over here.He wanted to trade me out of my air horn. cuhulin

Speaking of horns though, sometimes the horn on my 1983 Dodge van doesn't work.I suppose it might be a loose connection somewhere. cuhulin

My buddy has a similar setup.. It works great as long as he remembers to fill up the air tank.

I don't know if the Europeans still use these horns because my Fiat had an electric compressor driving the horns through vinyl hoses. My guess is that they use electric horns these days but I like the James Bondian sounds of those old horns.

The FFBH #3830 looks to be for motorcycle applications. A loud horn is good for cycles - it announces to other drivers about your impending crash into their car and subsequent death. :-)

Did you ever hear the story of the "voice artist" (don't recall the actual title, but the same thing as that black guy in Police Academy does but about 20 years earlier) who set up a speaker outside his front door and started doing Alaskan Timber Wolf howls as the kids came to his door?

I draw a complete blank on the name of the guy.

Some of those people in my neighborhood, they blow their car horns all the time.Car horns are not supposed to be used for that ''purpose'' BEEP! BEEP! I don't use my horn unless I really need to. cuhulin

Only time I hear my car horn is the very short beep when I set the alarm. Except for that they seem unnecessary to me. Always have. Bet they cause 5 time more accidents then they prevent. Only time I ever think about using one is when somebody's sleeping when the light changes. But I wait, and either somebody behind me honks or the guy just wakes up while I'm trying to remember how to use the horn.
