There are two cars with an aluminum chassis and SMC bodywork.

This is the Corvette chassis:

However, Ford GT's, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, and R8's have aluminum bodywork instead of SMC bodywork.

My uncle always bought cheap black tires for his Valiant and then carefully painted white sidewalls on them with oil-based housepaint. It looked a lot better than you'd expect.

Back to the present:

The end of the short wheelbase Elise disappointed a lot of Lotus fans but the Evora with a wheelbase of 101.4" could actually be competition for the Corvette.

As for the Corvette, new close-out C6 Corvettes can be found on Autotrader at about $39,600 . Those are steel chassis and SMC bodywork.
