Any help pleeeeeaaaasssseeee!!!

I sent my cars to a Work Shop recently and came back with a huge list of replaced equipments and a shrank in my wallet, there's nothing i can do about it cos I knows nuts about car parts... So...Anyone who can explain to me the following terms and what it purpose it serve, will get my greatest respect:

  1. Distributor Coil.
  2. Drive Shaft.
  3. Chambel Adjustor.
  4. Rack Ends.

Thanks a lot!

Distributor coil is just the ignition coil, presumably - if you were having ignition problems that might have been bad.

Drive shaft is presumably one of your front half-shafts from the transmission to the front wheels, the most likely reason to replace that would be that one of the CV joints on it was bad, or the CV joint boot that holds the grease in was torn.

3 and 4 I'm not sure.. never heard of "chambel", camber or caster would make more sense, that's for wheel alignment.. and 4 is maybe the tie rod ends that join the steering rack to the steering knuckle on the wheel hub, if they were worn out the wheel alignment might have been off or the steering may have been loose..

Off subject: A while back a neighbor paid $2000 for a dealer to do an emmission repair on a New Yorker that did not fix the check engine light problem. Instead the dealer went on to do the suspensions, alignments, adjustments, rack ends, coolants, sparkplugs, Distributor Coil, etc but didn't solve the main problem. The most I paid for an

1996 emission problem by doing it myself costs only $55, not $2000. Knowlege thickens wallets. Rick
