Hello,
Bought a new 2009 Buick LaCrosse recently.
Never noticed it when I picked the car up, but one of the two metal strips/inserts moldings on the top of the roof (the ones running front to back) is popped up a very small amount in the front.
It's just a small amount raised up, but annoying.
Also, there is a big gap on one side, and the roof line height varies quite a bit when sighting across them. They say GM "quality" has improved, but you sure wouldn't know it from this.
Would like to know a bit more about these strips before bringing back to Dealership, and exactly what I should insist on their fixing (assuming it's fixable at all)
Was wondering:
What holds these two strips on; are there clips on the underside that mesh with ones on the roof in the trough that the strips sit in ?
What's underneath these strips ? Are there screws that hold the interior roof liner in place, or... ?
Do they have to laterally shift the complete center roof section to equalize, or minimize, these gaps ?
Is there a leaking problem, or potential for leaking, with these things ?
Why did GM do it this way, at all ? I've never seen it done with separate insert/strip moldings on the roof like this.
Thanks, Bob
