1993 Caprice with L05 engine

Getting code 43 and poor performance, acceleration and mileage

Replaced the knock sensor and the knock sensor module twice. No change. CEL flashes constantly at speeds of 55.

What else could it be?

This L05 came from a "9C1" police vehicle. The difference is in cam and injector. Is there different cam confusing the computer? I am going to try the "9C1" computer and see if that changes anything.

Code 43 can be set by improper timing. Check to make sure that your timing is correct. You might need to check to see if your balancer has slipped and the outer ring is showing the correct timing but it's off and therefore your "correct timing" isn't correct.

Most likely, the ECM is getting a continuous knock signal from the sensor, causing it to constantly retard the spark timing (a scan tool would help to verify this). The question is why - could it be picking up some other noise from the engine?
