Did the dealer screw up my steering wheel?

I had a 90k mile service for my '96 Camry. The service included installation of new rotors & power steering wheel fluid flush. After leaving the dealer, I started to hear creaking noise when turning the steering wheel especially at a low speed. I had never heard that before. So, I called the dealer and they said that (obviously) what they did to my car should not cause such a noise. I thought about going to the dealer again, but I guess that they'll just say the noise is normal or they will not hear it. Should I believe the dealer? What should I do? Thanks.

Drive back to the dealer. Stand in front of the service manager and politely but firmly ask him to explain their logic that a power steering flush could have nothing to do with an immediate increase in noise while steering. Ask if they warranty their service and suggest that you expect them to honor that warranty. And insist the service manager check for himself.

Guess is some doofus got air bubbles in your power steering which may or may not work their way out. You might be able to see them by pulling the cap and using a light. Worse would be the doofus didn't fill it enough.

They very well could have caused it depending on the noise and it's source. If it's coming from the power steering pump then the system either has air in it, is low, or both. Could even be a damaged pump depending on what happened during that flush. One would hope they aren't

*that* bad.

If the noise is from the linkage or some other part of the system they didn't touch it's doubtful they caused it.

If Lon S. is correct, & his idea is a very plausible one, try gently turning st. wheel to its maximum in 1 direction & holding it gently but steadily against its stop for a few seconds. . Then slowly & gently turn the wheel in the opposite direction & hold a few seconds at its extreme. Should there have been air left in the sstem, most likely it will now be gone. Good idea to have reservoir full before starting and then re-checking after you finish 'bleeding' the system. HTH & good luck. s

If your "creaking" is in the steering wheel as you post then you just noticed it now and they did nothing wrong.
