Ford 2150 carb part needed

I am missing the pump disc ball weight for my late 1970's Ford 2150 carb. Anybody know where I can get this small rod? Or the dimensions so I can fashion one?

If not, what problems might I have if I run it w/o the pump disc ball weight?

Thanks in advance.

Yellow Pages, under "carburetors"? There are still some places that carry carb parts, especially speed shops used by racers.

Hobby shops and real hardware stores sell brass rod, but a piece of solid copper wire should be cheaper.

??? Now what do you want! The "pump disc ball weight" or "this small rod?!?! What is the "pump disc ball weight"? Do you mean the accelerator pump check ball? It will come in a rebuild kit. Got to a junk yard and get another carb. They where very popular and interchangeable.

The pump disc ball weight (exactly as on the parts list) is a small rod. If I can get the diameter and length of it I can make one. Does anybody have one they could measure? Thank you.

Do you mean the

Some have a weight above the checkball. If I were you, I'd be off to the local you-pull-it to snag one out of a complete carb.. they probably wont even charge you for it. BTDT

It will come in a rebuild kit. Got to a

The checkball will be in the kit, not always the weights. HTH Ben

I think this is a 2150. If not, it looks the same as one.

Forgetting the name you are calling it, what part do you need help with?

Forget how long ago was the last time I fooled with one of these. Yes the directions and diagrams can sometimes use names that are really nonsensacle. So...is it the metal linkage on the exterior of the carb that links the throttle butterfly bell crank to the accelerator pump? If so maybe you can make one out of a coat hanger. Or if it is any of the other external rods maybe you can make one. But it will work better and really be easier in the long run if you get one off another carb. Check your friendlly neighbourhood pull it yourself junk yard.

Do you need it? If it is the rod that operates the accelerator pump the car may be drivable but will not want to accellerate. You will have to step on the gas very slowly to avoid it killing the engine. But you maybe able to drive it. It might be helpfull to richen up the idle mixture to get it to drive without killing the engine.

I had a '67 boat with twin Ford big blocks. They used Carter AFB's, I think 4150's, but not important, I had to use Edlebrock carb kits to get it running. Everything fit as the Edlebrock was a copie of the Carter that was no longer made. Everthing except the accelerator pump. It was a different diameter. So we drove that boat that way for years. Just could not mash down on the throttle's.

So how about some more information. We love carberaters and do miss them dearly.
