Heater core, '89 Grand Marquis

All helpful tips welcome. This is my first heater core replacement. I'll be replacing both the core and the little short hose I'm told I will find there... once I get at them.

have fun with that! the whole dash needs to come out. while you're at it since you have to evac. the a/c anyway. replace the evaporator. this is not a beginners task. Chip

Oh, crap. I was hoping the core was removable separately from the evaporator.

I said this was my first heater core, not my first major disassemble-and- repair job. :) However, no recovery gear, vacuum pump or freon stores. (Never went for certification because I couldn't justify buying the tools.)

Maybe I'll get lucky and the core will be patent, and I can get by with just changing the hose. Nothing lost if someone else has to go back in for a core (other than my work).

Thanks.
