Highway noise

Is there a way to check the bearings/drive shaft on a 2000 Grand AM? The noise is intermittent as just sometimes it runs down the highway just fine and feels smooth as can be, and others it makes a slight rumbling noise I can hear only when the radio is off and the windows are up. When it's doing this there is a slight vibration in the wheel and it just doesn't feel right.

It made this noise even after a spinbalance and

4 wheel alignment. I'm wondering if one of the bearings has some play in it or if it's a driveshaft problem. I'm thinking that if it's a drive shaft prob. it would be more consistent.

Thanks

The outside edge of the driver side tire is definately worn and as I said it has been aligned so it's not a toe in problem.

In fact it's worn smooth.

Bearing or strut or what?

Thanks

I remember discussing this with the alignment tech and there were no caster/camber setting problems. discovered that the DS rear tire was going almost flat just about every other day and so the car was leaing to that side. Was not at all diligent at filling it so it ran flat and the car was probably leaning to that side for quite a few highway miles this could have caused the outside wear on the front tire. I've fixed the hole in that tire but this has nothing to do with the road noise.

I'm thinking that either one or both of the front tires are out of round. They were Sam's club cheapo's that actually have Nylon/Polyester plys in them.....Eagle GPS tires. Checked Goodyear's site to see if I could find info or an alias named match and ....nada. Appears that these were made for Sam's club and are probably just not good tires.

Since they're pretty worn, I'm going to get a new set soon and see where that takes me.
