Jeep blower resistor

I've tried the appropriate newsgroups, but can't get an answer pertaining to a '96 Jeep Cherokee Country. Hopefully, someone here has an idea. For the life of me, I can't locate the blower speed resistor. I only have max speed, and would like to check the resistor before tackling the dash control looking for the problem. Wherezit at? TIA

You don't say where you have checked, but it is usually located under the dash behind the glove box on most vehicles. It sounds like you've got the problem solved...just a matter of finding the thing. If you still can't find it, you will need to replace it anyway, so if you get one at your parts place, they should be able to tell you exactly where it is...

good Luck

Look way down at the bottom of the heater box in the passenger side footwell. There you will find a plastic cover with one bolt to remove and a second to loosen. Under there will be the resistor pack.

Just a note, when the thermal fuse blows in those packs, it usually means the blower motor is starting to draw too much power or is getting worn out.

I kinda figgered it was in the plenum box, as the airflow provides some cooling of the resistor coils. I just couldn't/didn't see it. As soon as I get home I'll take another look. That's the kind of reply I was hoping for. Thanks Mike! Joe Arnold
