NOTE: CAR DOES NOT HAVE ABS OR TRACTION CONTROL.
This is our first winter storm with this car. On slippery surfaces (slush/ice/whatnot), there is a significant rapid clanking/knocking sound, probably from the left front. No such sound are dry pavement. There is no clicking on turns, nor any 'wheel bearing noise'.
In other cars, I've replaced struts, wheel bearings, control arms, and engine mounts. I can't say this isn't one of those, but this particular symptom is definitely new to me.
I haven't ever had a bad CV joint, but this doesn't fit what I'd expect from such.
Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.
