Loctite

Hi all:

I've been hearing up here about red, blue, green etc. loctite. I have many grades in my toolbox, some of the same color For instance, I use

242 (medium strength blue for new bolts), 243 (medium strength blue for oil applications), 266 (high strength red for most applications), 290 (green, post application high strength), 262 (high strength red for heat applications), 270 (stud locker green ), and 222 (low strength red). Can we go to loctite numbers (or permatex for that matter). Hate hearing about "red" loctite - do I wanna use 222 or 262?????

Yeah, you are right. It's just that I can never remember the number on the containers at work. I'll see if I can remember to actually look at the number and file it away in the old memory banks.
