Oil Pan Drain Plug Bolt 05 Escape stuck

Tried to change the oil in my 05 Escape. This is the first time I attempted to do an oil change on this vehicle. Previously, I had my mechanic do the oil changes. I decided to attempt it myself to save time. Anyway, I could not remove the drain plug. It is tightened beyond belief!. This is an aluminum oil pan and I was concerned about cracking the oil while removing the bolt. I gave up, and I will bring the car back to my mechanic and ask why the hell they torqued that bolt so high that it could rip out the aluminum threads. Anyone have similar experience? M

I've seen this done on several vehicles. Another thing it could be is if the engine was hot when the drain plug was removed/replaced the motor may have to be warmed up again to expand the metal (assuming you're trying to remove it with the engine cold).

I had a similar problem with aluminum head when changing spark plugs. If I installed them with a cold engine I made sure I replaced them when the engine was cold.

I assume you are turning the right direction.
