Painting Cabl Light Lenses

I've got an 06 Silverado and am dying to put cab lights on it, but I dont want the same thing everybody else has. I was wandering if I bought a set of cab lights with the clear lense and orange bulbs if I could have the lense and everything painted (white) to match the truck. Would it melt the paint or even show through when they are on. I want them white white when they are off and orange when they are on.

Thanks

Don't see why you couldn't paint the lens white... and have amber bulbs.

You should check with your local DMV about the running lights. In most places they are required to be visible at X number of feet. Your painted lenses might not do that.

That said, I have lenses that are white/clear, but look white from 20' away until the orange bulb comes on. Inside roof lights have white plastic lenses and light up pretty well. Maybe someone actually makes what you want.

I wouldn't look good imho. It will look like you painted the lenses white they would inevitably be streaked and take a really good looking truck and make it cheap.

Since the turn signals and presumably parking lights use amber bulbs inside clear lenses why not follow that color scheme and tie the colors together. That will look sharp and like it came from the factory that way.

why not just use clear lenses and those new silver bulbs, they will not show any color until they are on
