I walloped my '98 Hyundai Accent into a hard curb a few months ago, hit it parallel fairly hard after sliding on ice. Front took the hardest hit - front right wheel and control arm were replaced along with back right wheel rim. Problems: after two alignments the steering is still loose as hell, it's esp. bad when I'm speeding down the freeway, scary to drive - way too much play. I've done a quick deja search for some possible answers - steering box or column, steering rack, ball joints, bushes, bearings, etc. What should I be looking at...Car is also awfully "bouncy" since the repairs, esp noticeable if I'm on a even slightly bumpy street, like I'm on a rocking horse - is this something normal that I should just get used to, or not?
Another issue - the transmission pan got slightly dented, my mechanic told me it shouldn't be a problem but the pickup is bad enough as it is, should I have this repaired or save my $$? Also should I go to another body shop or bit the bullet and take it to the dealer for extra work - any advice is appreciated.
