Power window won't go up 1995 Ford Crown Vic

Hello, I'm new to the group. The problem that I need help with is that the front passenger side power window won't go up on our 1995 Crown Vic. I just saw a post tonight, in which someone else seemed to have the same problem, but I couldn't find any answers to his post. According to my service advisor at Ford, the problem is most likely the regulator. I think that I could replace the regulator myself, but I don't know how to remove the door panel. Could anyone give me some easy instructions on how to remove (and replace) the door panel so that I can get to the inside of the window and the regulator? Thanks Lou

Generally what has to happen is you remove all the screws that hold trim pieces, light covers, handles, etc from the door. Most cars have clips that hold the rest of the door panel to the door. I bought a tool at Pep Boys about 15 years ago designed to remove these clips without damaging the door panel (mostly cardboard or something similar at that time).

I don't know if this is the same on your door panel or not, but this is how I removed most door panels I ever worked with.

Window won't go up, but will it still go down? Or if it's all the way down now, does pushing either driver or passenger switch make it try to go further?

Mom's Taurus passenger window wouldn't go down, but you could hear the motor groan if you pushed "up". I opened the driver's door, sat down, turned the key on, and the window worked just fine from either side. Closed the door and it would go up, but not down. Traced it to a broken wire in the bundle that goes between the driver's door and the jamb. Flex it the wrong way... no power.

Problem is likely stripped gear in motor if you can hear it run but window does not move. Panel comes off by removing screws and lifting up un panel to disengage plastic retainers. They are actually hooks that go thru the door. They are easily broken so do not pull out on the panel until it moves upward and releases.

Or use 1/4" bolts and nuts as an alternative to 1/4" rivets and a huge rivet gun. Install the bolts so that the excess threads are not in the way of any moving parts, or cut them short to start with, or install them and then cut off the excess with a high speed dremmel type cutoff tool. You will want to double nut the bolts or use Loctite blue before assembly.

If you wnat to use rivets (it is easier IMO), you can get a cheap throw away large rivet gun with assorted rivets from Harbor Freight for about $17.
