I can't see why the dealership would expect Toyota to cover its negligence for putting the wrong mats in the car and then compounding the problem by ignoring the warnings of the previous user of the car.

And again, there's a little key on the right side of the steering > column.

Not in this particual;r case - it had the start / stop button. And with the car in gear, you have to press and hold it in for a measurable amount of time (3 sec?) to shut down the engine.
