Read Chrysler OBD2 codes w/o a scanner?

Is it possible to command the Chrysler OBD2 to readout the codes that are set? GM uses a short between two pins on OBD1 to read out the codes. Does Chrysler do something similiar?

The vehicle is a 1999 Durango and it doesnot read out by cycling the ignition twice and then on like some older Chrysler products.

TIA, Rich

On some 95 and later OBDII vehicles, you may be able to retrieve OBDII codes with this procedure, especially if equipped with digital dash.

However, I would NEVER use these codes for serious diagnosis. The 5 digit codes are much more informative.
