Replacement Glass Question

Hello:

Have a 2006 Accord that looks like it will need a replacement front windshield due to a lot of rocks impacting it over the year.

Would Giant Glass be O.K. to use ?

I guess I'm wondering if they use "real" Honda approved glass, or an after-market type ?

Should I have it done by a Honda dealership ?

Any thoughts on would be appreciated.

Thanks, Bob

I would not get this done at a dealer, but I would use quality replacement glass like PPG or whatever Ford uses (or whatever any other automaker uses). Do not use Safelite glass, it sucks.

More than a few dealers sublet their glass work in any case.

I would have the work done at a glass shop but insist on using glass from the car manufacturer. In my experience aftert-market glass can be of inferior quality. It is safe, but not as uniformly finished. You may find that windshield wipers don't hit the glass as well.

the car manufacturers do not make their own glass. I think what you mean is get same brand as original.

FWIW, I did not say the car maker made it's own glass. I said insist on using glass from the car manufacturer. The manufacturer could get the glass from many makers but it would be of a uniform standard.
