Rough Idling

I have a 1992 Toyota which just started idling roughly. It was fine in the morning, then began to act up when I left for lunch. It vibrates whether it is in park, neutral or drive. When I start to accelerate it is kind of sluggish at first. After I get goign, though, it begins to smooth out. It has an automatic transmision and other than this, has no other problems and generally runs great. The last tune up was done about 6 months ago.Any ideas of what the problem my be?

Thanks Erik

Could be quite a number of things, but ignition problems (like a bad plug wire) would be one of the first suspects..

Also, check EGR and PCV. If you don't know the meaning of these TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms), take your car to the shop.

Check the resistance of the coolant temp sensor and of the air temp sensor. I think at 70 degrees F it should be 20K ohms and decrease as the temp warms up. Autozone maybe able to scan and read your temp readings from these sensors for free.
