Running Lights

Are these standard on some cars? And what is the purpose of them? How do they work?

Running lights are for running the vehicle after dark. All vehicles must have some kind of running light to drive after dark.

They usually consist of two red rear facing with two red side facing lights at the back of the vehicle and two front facing orange lights with two orange side facing ones up front.

Some people call them parking lights also.

They are so you can be seen.

When your vehicle is parked it is supposed to have or usually has reflectors backing these up.

I have to ask: Why do you post questions like this? To start threads going? As rhetorical questions? You'll certainly be better educated if you just Google for your answers.

If you're referring to Daytime Running Lights, there are copious, overwhelming, overflowing amounts of data readily available on this topic.
