Sandblasting

I am currently sand blasting my 52 CJ3A, and want to know how far I need to go. Should I clean it down to silver shiny metal, or just clean off the loose stuff (which still takes quite an effort)? If I just clean the loose stuff off and repaint (with rocker guard, or any other suggestions welcome) will it just peal in a year or two? Any help and suggestions would be great!

If you're even considering blasting, do it right. Use plastic media (virtually no heat build-up to distort your metal), and go right down to metal. Then use a good acid etch primer (green death) and paint it. You won't regret it. Considering you're doing a Jeep, don't cut corners just because it's a 'working truck'. Painting over semi-cleaned off metal looks like stool and every time you look at it after you put it all together, you'll wish you went just that little extra way to do it right the first time. I'm plastic blasting every single piece on my 1950 Willys Wagon, paointing it in Green Death primer and doing it in the exact same red/white paint job it came with in 1950. Drive line will be modern, but you'll never know to look at it (unless you're really good). =)
