I just now saw on local area tv news, a woman went to a post office to buy some stamps. She left her purse on the front seat of her car, she got back to her car thirty seconds later.Somebody had busted a window and stole her purse. Sheesh, she is about forty fiveish years old.She ought to have known better. cuhulin

How was she planning on *paying* for the stamps would be my question?

Just last Monday, a tv news reporter (works at the same tv news channel I was watching) was the victim of a similar crime. It only takes about one second for a thief to smash a window and grab something and Gone. cuhulin

The other thing that comes to mind is that she clearly had to get the change or her "wallet" out of her purse and almost certainly someone was watching her *as* she did so.

Rasafrassin'...

I had my beloved '85 Hachiroku stolen in 1991. It took 3 weeks to find it. I received a notice from the impound yard if I didn't come get it they were taking me to court! They had it towed in before I reported it.

The day after it was stolen I had planned to put an alarm in it...

It took me three weeks to round up all the parts; the interior was gutted, the factory alloys were gone (funny, a month later I saw a set JUST LIKE IT on a TERCEL!!!!) and rahter than install another 1100 watts of stereo and 12 speakers, I went with a Kenwood cassette deck and Kenwood speakers and a hidden Kenwood amp, about $400.

At least they didn't get the amp....and they didn't set off the alarms! I had mounted the stereo with a removable bracket, and a 12V camera battery so it could be removed. WHO THE HELL FIGURED THEY WOULD STEAL IT AT 1PM ON THE 4TH OF JULY?!?!?!

Smashed the window without setting off the alarm. So the next day I went to Rad Shack and put in a glass breakage detector.

Jeebus!

I've had my car broken into twice & stolen all within one month. I never leave anything of value in my cars anymore. The funny thing is when the car was stolen they took my mp3 car stereo & auto code reader, but failed to check the trunk for the snap-on air tools I had.

A former neighbor once parked his car in downtown Chicago near the Merchandise Mart. Came back one day after parking for 15-20 minutes. The rear door window was busted out and the door was hanging open. Gone off the rear seat was a leather jacket, desktop computer and a leather briefcase.

He was so surprised somebody would steal this stuff.

I thought to myself good for you dumbass. They constantly left home with the garage door wide open, now its their turn to pay.

One time when I was in New Orleans about twelve years ago, somebody busted a window in my 1978 Dodge van and stold my cheap AM/FM/Cassette radio out of the dashboard. cuhulin
