TATA UNVEILS THE ONE LAC CAR

TATA MOTORS OF INDIA UNVEILS THE RUPEES ONE LAC CAR. (2,500 US DOLLARS EXCLUDING VAT AND OTHER CHARGES). EVEN AFTER ALL TAXES AND CHARGES THE ON ROAD PRICE OF THIS CAR COULD STILL BE ABOUT 140000 RUPEES OR 3,500 US DOLLARS FOR THE CHEAPEST VARIANT. I BELIEVE THIS CAR IS THE WORLDS CHEAPEST CAR. AND IF YOU LOOK AT IT THE TATAS COULD EASILY SELL THE CAR AT A MUCH HIGHER PRICE IN THE FUTURE.

How many seats does it have?

What kind of engine, gasoline or diesel or ethanol or something else?

What is the fuel consumption per mile or km?

Is it street legal in the United States?

Are there any authorized US importers?

Are you selling this car?

Would you please turn off your caps lock? ;-)

From what I heard in the news, the car does not meet US EPA pollution standards or DOT safety standards.

Of course not. It must have been a real slow newsday because of all the hoopla and the fact that this car will never be sold in the states. Of course, what nobody says is that the final price will be 40% to 60% higher than that because of all the taxes that India will slap on the car before any of their citizens can drive it. Add a few thousand more to what they will sell it and you could buy a Chevy Aveo or a bottom of the line Suzuki that meets emission and safety standards, PLUS has a decent warranty.

Pretty soon India will be more polluted than Mexico City.
