Tire Balancing Question

Hi All: I recently bought a set og Goodyear Aquatred 3's for my 98 Grand Marquis. After about 4 weeks I noticed that the car was riding rough and sometimes vibrates at high speeds. I thought iut was the shocks. I am replaceing them Friday. I noticed that the people who replaced the tires TOWNE FAIR TIRE overinflated the tires by 7 psi. Also, I noticed that there a huge wieghts about 8 inches long clamped to the outside of the rim. Shouldn't they divide the weight between the inside and outside of the rim? The wheel covers don't fit on the rim properly because of this. Robert

That much balance weight indicates a fault in either the tyre carcass or the wheel or a fitment problem. 20 to 30 grams should suffice to balance a good wheel and tyre. I suggest you take it back to them.
