Transmission issues in 2004 Chevy Impala

I am currently having problems with my 2004 impala transmission. It slips t wo to three times every time I'm driving up a hill. I've been having this p roblem for a while now, especially since I moved to Atlanta. I know I have about a good year or so before it goes out completely. I was thinking about getting a used transmission put in my vehicle, until I called around and r ealize the part and labor for this transaction was too expensive. Especiall y since my vehicle is ten years old. However, my vehicle only has 80,000 mi les on it. I was thinking about maybe getting the old fluids flush and repl acing them with new fluids. This transaction will only run me a few hundred bucks at the most which is much cheaper than getting a new, rebuilt, or us ed transmission. Would anyone mine sharing with me there past experience of getting there fluids flush? Did it help or at least minimize the transmiss ion slips when driving your vehicle?

Yep just about on schedule. They are know for failing right around 80K.

How do you figure you have a year? Every time it slips it glazes the clutches and burns fluid. The pressures surge and bad things happen. Could very easily fail tomorrow.

New fluid could help, or it could kill it.

If you like the car and want to keep it have the trans rebuilt by a shop that knows the problem areas. There are some updates that can be done to make the trans better at the same time. Around here that will run about $1,200.00. I'm not a fan of used trans in this instance. Too much of a crap shoot that the used one is better than the one you have.

you're way too late. Shoulda done it at 36k and 72k. It's broken now. Have it rebuilt like the other post states.
