02 Avalon cabin filter

I had changed the cabin filter in my Highlander several times...

Always have had dealer do the Avalon one. So, bought both, Highlander takes maybe 5 minutes.

Remove 5 screws around glove box on Avalon as instructions from Bosch show - would not budge.

Hell, you can see the filter cover over the lip of the glove box but can't get too it. Anyone ever do it? I hate to break something. Are there other screws/bolts to take off?

BTW, Toyota filters have a pretty detailed instruction sheet showing how to remove and replace the cabin filter. You might just bite the bullet and go buy a Toyota filter, or alternatively, go by a Toyota parts or service department and ask them.

The Highlander is just pinch the sides, drop the glove box pull replace filter - real fast.

The Avalon is a completely different animal - I bought a Bosch filter and it has full instructions and pictures BUT after removing screws as shown glove box still won't wiggle .

There is maybe two or less inches between back lip of glove box & filter. Not enough clearance to pull & turn - this definitely wasn't a better idea from Toyota. I'll attempt it one more time.

By the way price - I got two air filters and 2 cabin filters Bosch & Denso for 5 dollars less than dealer wanted to replace 1 filter in Highlander. I have done 3 of 4 so about 125 ahead!

Maybe I am trying to be to careful when I pull the screws popping it put!
